LIGHT & FLIGHT— HEBRIDEAN WILDLIFE & LANDSCAPE SKETCHBOOK |
PHILIP SNOW BA—COUNTRY ART & BOOKS |
LIGHT: Hebridean light is justly famous, either bouncing gloriously off the sea & often pale rocks & illuminating everything in limpid clarity—or emerging from inky-black clouds in sparkling rainbows or searchlight beams, scudding across silver seas & lochs in special light shows that seem tailored-made for us!
FLIGHT: Hebridean birds fly no more than any others, but when they do...Eagles abound, along with many other raptors, ravens, skuas etc, & their territories are breathtaking. Like the ravens playfully tumbling over Barra [below, left] or the Golden Eagles skydancing over south Harris [below, right] - these isles never disappoint. [Both pictures are actually right & left sketchbook pages of the same, long view, just scanned one above the other. Both drawn on the spot.] |
